We learn from community residents what forms of environmental and policy changes they would like to see in the Mattapan community in order to increase access to healthy affordable foods and increase  opportunities for physical fitness.

Our MFFC youth (with support from the Boston Collaborative for Food and Fitness, Massachusetts Partnerships for Healthier Communities, and the Boston Public Health Commission) completed a community needs assessment that included surveys, focus groups, key informant interviews, and walking and biking audits.

The results of this survey were reported back to community residents and further refined in two community-wide meetings held in both English and Haitian Creole and jointly led by youth and adults. Through this process, MFFC completed a strategic planning process to further refine our targets and organizational structure in order to ensure our long term success.
